Breathe

At The Lighthouse Center, the “Breathe” element creates space for restoration, movement, and emotional well-being. When families are navigating constant stress and scarcity, having safe outdoor and shared spaces to pause, play, and reset supports mental health, reduces anxiety, and helps parents and children engage more fully in school, work, and daily life.

Reality

Children raised in impoverished environments are at higher risk for health and social problems, including poor performance in school.

TLC Responds

TLC responds by embedding spaces for play, movement, and fresh air directly into the daily lives of residents. These outdoor and shared environments encourage physical activity, reduce stress, build community connection, and support both physical and mental health for children and adults.

Playgrounds (active play and social development)

Half-Court Basketball (healthy movement and teamwork)

Green Play Fields (open space for exercise and recreation)

Children’s Splash Pad (safe water play and sensory engagement)

Spaces to Walk and Relax (stress reduction and community connection)
